Declaration of Independence

Friedendorf was created to be separated from the usual way of government for purposes that suit the needs of its citizens. The government is setup as socialist, or where the government of Friedendorf watches over, takes care of, and runs the land within its boundaries. We believe that a democracy isn’t effective, as each person in the society has such diverse opinions that a consensus would never be formed positively. By having a socialist style of government, we are able to promote peace and wellness throughout Friedendorf. People don’t have to worry about crime, the economy, or job security. Everything is handled in the best way possible to have a safe and peaceful living experience.

The land will be governed by a group of 13 board members who make national decisions based on their knowledge and wisdom gained from life. The reason we have 13 board members is because there are 13 districts in Friedendorf and one is appointed from each district by the predecessor. Every year, a new board member is acquired in chronological order, starting with District 1. The next year, a new board member is chosen from District 2, and so on. Once we reach the 13th District, we start back at District 1. There is one leader who is selected by the board who regulates the decisions, but is not dictator to the land. All of the board members are accepted into the group by the current board members and must go through a process in order to be trusted as a legitimate leader. This happens every 10 years, and once you reach your 10 year span, a new person begins the process. The facilitator announces the ceremonial event of acquiring the new board member.

People who live in Friedendorf know very well that the place they live in is a wonderful environment where everyone is taken care of. They rest at peace knowing all of their problems and international conflicts are handled securely by the government. But that’s not the only thing we’re proud of. Our culture is rich in German heritage… The national language is German, we celebrate German holidays, such as Neujahr (New Year’s), Weihnachten (Christmas), MariƤ Lichtmess (Candlemas), Fasching Karneval (Mardi Gras), etc. Even the name of our land, “Friedendorf”, means “Peace Village” in the German language.

  1. If you are establishing a socialist society in order to avoid the "diverse opinions" and a lack of consensus that you say comes with democracy, how will decisions be made? By one person/leader? How does your socialist society "take care" of people differently than in a democracy?

  2. I really like your idea to have a socialist society because of the diverse opinions that you say are so troublesome in a democratic society, but I agree with Ms. Van Hoomissen. You weren't really very specific in saying what you were going to do to take care of your people and if you aren't specific that could be taken in many different ways. Good job though, it sounds like it's going to be great.

  4. you say that people would know that they were in a wonderful and peaceful place, what happens when a person doesn't get what they want and stops liking your utopia and openly complains and causes a problem?
